In 2016 I am going to see 5 Seconds of Summer on their second tour, Sounds Live Feels Live. I saw them last year on their tour Rock Out With your Socks Out, and it was the best night of my life. This year for my birthday my mom got me and my best friend the tickets to see them. This year they are performing at the Molson Ampitheatre in Toronto (it was the same location last year) on July 12th, last year I was on the grass because the tickets were expensive and my mom, step dad, my friend and I all went but this year my friend and I are in section 203. I can easily say that this is probably the best birthday gift I’ve ever gotten, anyways this blog post is going to be a top 5 list on the songs that I hope they perform off of their new album that came out at the end of October.
Even if they don’t perform these songs I know that I will enjoy the entire night because I will be with my best friend and I know and like all of their songs anyway, they could just talk the entire time and I would still enjoy the entire night.
- Invisible is one of my favourite songs off the album because of the meaning. The song represents someone who feels invisible to everyone and it's a very emotional song with a powerful message. Its different from their music in the past because it’s slower and only one person out of 4 in the band sings the song which I love because it really adds to the feeling of the song. At the end of the song there is a violin playing and I think it really adds to the song because of the meaning and the beat because the song is a slower song and I love it and I hope it is on the set list.
- The second song that I would like them to perform is Jet Black Heart. It’s going to be their next single so they are making a music video for it. I really want to hear this song live because it was one of the songs that was released off the album early and it came out 2 days after my concert and they started playing it for the rest of their tour. I was angry when I found out simply because I had listened to the song and I immediately fell in love with because Michael Clifford (my favourite member of the band) sings most of the song and he completely rocks it, and then I was thinking, I’m never going to hear it live. I’m never going to hear Michael sing his heart out to this song but now I hopefully will. I’m almost positive that they will perform it because it is going to be their newest single.
- Hey Everybody! is their current single right now and it’s one of my favourite songs. I’m want them to play it because whenever I hear it I just want to sing as loud as I can and jump up and down which is good for a concert because it’s always good to make sure that the audience is engaged and having a good time and I think this song does the job. The studio version of this song is great and hearing it live will be even better because you’ll be able to hear the instruments better, their vocals better and everything will just be better.
- Outer Space/Carry On is a song that I never really listened to until about a month after the album came out, the reason behind it was because the song is 6 minutes and 38 seconds. It’s really two song but put together into one very long song. I feel like I didn’t want to listen to the song because of how long it was but when I did finally listen to it I mentally hit myself for not listening to it before. I want them to perform it but at the same time I feel like they won't because of how long the song is unless they perform it in two different songs which could be a possibility. Either way, I don’t really care how they perform it, as long as I get to experience it live.
- Broken Home is another very emotional song off of the album. It’s message is very powerful and I know that their are fans of this band out there that can relate to the song. The song is about someone who parents are fighting and they can’t deal with it anymore. If I could put all the lyrics in this blog I would because it’s truly a beautiful song. It’s not something I have dealt with, my parents are divorced but I was too young to actually remember what happened, I know that there are other people out there who have had this problem and I love that this band wrote a song about it so it’s something they can turn to and relate to.
- I know that I said this was going to be a top 5 list but this is a song that I had to add. It’s called Disconnected and it’s not on their new album, It was on their second EP but this song means so much to me that I can’t leave it out. Last year I went to see them with my family and my best friend, my best friend lives in Quebec and I only get to see her once a year but before she moved we declared that this song was our song. Every time I listen to this song I think of her and it means so much to me. Last year at the concert they sang it and it was the highlight of my night, not only because it’s my favourite song in general but because it’s mine and my best friends song. Even though she is 610 km away from me we are still and will always be best friends.
Even if they don’t perform these songs I know that I will enjoy the entire night because I will be with my best friend and I know and like all of their songs anyway, they could just talk the entire time and I would still enjoy the entire night.
